Biodegradable (BioPET) Sheet

  • Bio-Based Pet

Generally, PET consists of 70% terephthalic acid and 30% of monoethylene glycol (MEG). However, it is now possible to produce “bio-based” MEG from renewable raw materials instead of using fossil resources.

The basis for this bio-based MEG is ethanol manufactured from sugar cane rather than using ethanol produced from oil.

This is a ‘drop-in’ solution and is therefore able to replace conventional PET in a wide variety of applications. Typical applications are bottles, trays, automotive and other injection molding applications. 

  • Oxo-Bio Pet/Biodegradable Pet

In this type of PET Sheets, a bio-degradable PET additive is used to enhance the bio-degradation of plastic by adding in hydrophilic parameters to the polymer chain. This allows microbial enzymatic action to reduce the structure of the polymer by utilizing macromolecules within the plastic polymer.

This additive does not compromise the physical properties of the plastic. The product maintains its regular shelf life and tensile strength while enjoying the benefits of enhanced biodegradation. 

BioPET has the following advantages:

  • Can be recycled at up to 100% in the existing PET recycling streams
  • Properties & processing are the same as of fossil PET

Amorphous Polyethylene Terephthalate (A-PET) Sheet

The material is composed of 100% virgin PET material. A-PET films are widely used for packaging consumer goods, electrical accessories, and medical products. In packaging applications, A-PET films act as excellent barriers to acids and strong oxidizers.

A-PET films also exhibit good resistance to grease, fat, and oils. The resistance characteristics make these polyester films best suited for food packaging applications, as they do not absorb flavors or impart off-tastes.

Flexibility as well as high temperature and impact resistivity are some significant features of our A-PET sheet. A-PET films are available in black, white, as well as custom colors.

Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (R-PET) Sheet

The material is composed of either 100% recycled PET flake OR both recycled PET flake and virgin PET material at percentages specified by the customer.R-PET is produced by collecting, sorting and recycling PET, then refining the material into flakes that can be turned into new products. Using R-PET as an alternative to PVC is a huge step forward on the path toward a greener, safer
and cleaner future.R-PET sheet with tight tolerances is ideal for packaging, laminating, and custom thermoforming applications. R-PET films are best suited for rigid packaging applications in industries ranging from food and medical to automotive. Compared to plastic resins such as PP, PVC, and HDPE, R-PET materials have high tensile yield strengths.R-PET films exhibit resistance to strong oxidizers, alcohol, and hydrocarbon solvents. In food packaging applications, R-PET films act as barriers to fat, grease, and oil. Depending on special packaging requirements, can coat R-PET sheet with silicone or anti-static/anti-fog materials.

Glycol-Modified Polyethylene Terephthalate (G-PET) Sheet

The material is composed of glycol-modified 100% virgin PET flake OR both recycled PET flake and virgin PET material at percentages specified by the customer.Glycol-Modified Polyethylene Terephthalate (G-PET) fabricates well throughout a number of different processes including cutting, drilling, bending, routing and polishing.It also bonds well with solvents or adhesives. Due to its low forming temperature, G-PET can be easily vacuum or pressure-formed and bent by heat without any need for pre-drying.G-PET can be used in a variety of applications including for medical and food purposes, electronic devices, covers and even medical braces. G-PET is often used in the sign making industry where it can create purchase or graphic displays and display cases.Printing grade G-PET provides excellent printability, laminating characteristics and flexural strength. It is now increasingly being used to make credit or gift cards for it is a more durable and environment friendly alternative to rigid PVC. Due to its impact resistance properties, G-PET is also being used in thermoforming applications which require deep draws and complex shapes.

Metallized Polyethylene Terephthalate (M-PET) Sheet

UniPET’s Metallized PET is the best solution when it comes to high gas barrier levels, aroma and flavor preservation requirements.Metallizing of PET sheet under vacuum conditions is a proven technology toachieve special optical properties or a metal look for decorative applications and as mentioned above to reduce the diffusion of gases and flavors through the film. The most commonly used metal is aluminum but other metals can also be used.UniPET’s M-PET sheet is one of the best substitutes for metallizing purposes without any pre-treatment. Due to its high surface energy, a high metal adhesion and consistency of the metal layer is reached, contributing to a high oxygen and general gas barrier as well as a significant improvement of the water vapor barrier.

Co-extruded Glycol-Modified Polyethylene Terephthalate (GAGPET) Sheet with G-PET / A-PET / G-PET configuration

GAG-PET is laminated sheet made of A-PET at the inner layer and G-PET at the surface layer on both sides. The material is composed of both glycol-modified and non-glycol-modified virgin PET material.Comparing with regular A-PET sheet, GAG-PET has better printing properties and stronger adhesion strength due to the G-PET surface layers. It supports vacuum forming and bending with heat process and allows for easy punching and bending by leading line.GAG-PET is best suited for interior decoration for Stores, Signboards/Displays, POP advertisements etc.

U-PET is again a material belonging to the thermoplastic polyester family made from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol through a condensation reaction. Its durability, temperature tolerance and wear-resistance has made it an ideal substitute for PVC.

U-PET sheet is a transparent Co polyester sheet which is exceedingly easy to fabricate and Thermoform. The faster forming cycles combined with the high transparency and high impact strength makes U-PET a cost effective option for saving time, labor and money.
